University Reform

In April 2026, Nagano University plans to establish a new Faculty of Information Science, tentatively named the 'Faculty of Collaborative Information Science,' and to reorganize existing faculties to create the 'Faculty of Regional Management' (tentative names). With these new faculties and the reorganization of existing departments, the university aims to further evolve and cultivate individuals who aspire to grow alongside their communities in this new era.

Overview of the New Faculty and Reorganization

  • We will establish a new Faculty of Information Science, where students will gain expertise in cutting-edge technology in information science, as well as digital transformation (DX) and green transformation (GX). The goal is to nurture individuals with the education and ethical understanding necessary to thrive in the AI era.
  • The reorganization of the Faculty of Environmental Tourism and the Faculty of Business Informatics will harness the strengths of each faculty to enhance community-based education through synergy, fostering talent that can drive innovation towards a sustainable society.
  • As part of a common liberal arts education across all faculties, we will introduce STEAM education, including mathematics, data science, and AI education, to equip students with the ability to accurately utilize information and independently determine their future paths."
