 Nagano University is located in Ueda City in Nagano Prefecture.
 Nagano prefecture is located in central Japan and is surrounded by mountains as much as 3000 meters high and a rich natural environment. Every year approximately a billion national and international tourists visit the area. In February of 1998, the Winter Olympic Games took place here. Manufacturing has expanded and now about one third of the population works in manufacturing. Many of these companies have followed the examples of well known companies such as Seiko and Epson, and have expanded with overseas branches and partners; some of these companies have employed international students who have graduated from Nagano University.
 Ueda City is located in the eastern part of Nagano prefecture and has a population of about 160,000 people. This is a historic area where politics, economy and culture were prospering 1300 years ago, before the Nara Era. There are many cultural assets such as temples and shrines within the city.Furthermore, there area about 6,000 people from other countries living in Ueda. Ueda City has sister cities in several parts of Japan as well as other countries, and there are various international events held during the year.
