Support for International Students
at Nagano University

Tuition reduction and exemptions system for private paying international students	Annual tuition is discounted by half. We believe that lightening the financial burden for private paying international students will allow them to dedicate themselves more fully to their studies. If good scholarship is maintained, this discount can be received each year.

Financial Assistance Scholarships for International Students of Nagano University	The professors and administrative staff of Nagano University have made private contributions to this fund which is used to provide financial assistance to our international students. Recipients are selected two times per year based on academic standing.

Nagano University Scholarships for Academically Excellent Students	These scholarships are for students with excellent academic achievement. Applicants are considered by year of study and faculty. Awards may consist of a full or a half tuition waiver. These scholarships are possible for all students, including international students, and numerous international students have received such scholarships.

Scholarships and Financial Aid from Other Sources	International students may apply for scholarships from various sources other than the university; these include state scholarships as well as private organizations and foundations, such as the Nakajima Peace Foundation.

Japanese language support	In addition to Japanese language study in the classroom, tutoring is offered. Several people from the local community volunteer their time on our campus to assist international students in advancing their Japanese language skill.

International Student Association	The International Student Association is organized by international students. Their activities include a newspaper and organizing events. Through these activities our international students also expand their intercultural activities and experience with the local community.

Events

●May.	Welcome Party New international students are welcomed by already enrolled international students, teachers, staff and Japanese students

●Oct.	Factory Tours Well known companies located in Nagano prefecture are visited as well as a a television station and sightseeing spots.

●Nov.	College Festival Sampling international foods made by students at the college festival has become a tradition. Every year they are more delicious.

●Dec.	Winter Holiday Party This get together is another chance for international students to get to know their Japanese classmates teachers and university staff.
